What does the future hold for journalists? The growth of the Internet is changing the role of journalists. The boundary between journalists and some bloggers seems very blurred. Will there still be a role for professional journalists in future and if so, how will the job change?
What are the best movies about journalism/journalists? Hey everyone! For my journalism class I am compiling a list of movies about journalists and journalism which really capture the profession. For instance, I am not interested in Fletch, but I am interested in All The Presidents Men. What are your suggestions?

Hi, I am not a native English speaker and have to write a report to an American boss I would like to know what the journalists from TV, newspapers and magazine that attend our news conference to introduce new product are called? What are some benefits for reporters or journalists who accompany units in military combat zones? What are some benefits for reporters or journalists who accompany units in military combat zones??? I had to write a research assignment study with pros and cons of reporters accompanying units in a combat military battle under operation secrecy. I've got the cons down, but don't see any pros if they accompany, other than their high risks of multiple hazards. I would appreciate your thoughts.
Do a lot of journalists get to deal with different countries/cultures? I want to work with other countries, as I'm very interested in world cultures and whatnot, and am currently studying the Chinese language. I'm also a very good writer, so I'm trying to find a career that could incorporate both of these interests/skills. I don't think I'm pushy enough to be a journalist, but I'm just wondering if it's common for journalists to get the chance to do international work. Any thoughts/tips?
Poor quality of journalists today or why does the media suck these days? Are the journalists today just too stupid or lazy to research their stories fully and provide an objective story? Everything is so sensationalized and inaccurate. What can we do about this other than turn off the TV? Somewhere around 5 years ago I stopped watching the news because it sucks.
Are there any republican journalists in the manstream media? As I've watched the debates I've found it odd that there are democratic journalists moderating both the democratic and republican debates. Then it dawned on me. Aside from the Fox News, Tucker Carlson and Scarborough at MSNBC, are there any conservative journalists that could moderate a debate on PBS, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, or anywhere else?
What are the employment opportunities for Indian journalists in Singapore or Hong Kong? I am a senior business journalist with about a decade's experience in Mumbai, India's financial capital. I would like to know about job opportunities for me in any of the leading South Asian cities in Singapore or Hong Kong. Are Indian journalists welcome in these cities, and are there enough job opportunities? In case Singapore/Hong Kong are not open, I would like to pursue my career in Australia/NewZealand
Are journalists required to disclose their profession during interviews? Let's say you are talking to people from your former workplace as well as other people at varying levels of bureaucracy. You are writing something about the experience of working there (healthcare related) - but you are not a professional journalist and never have been. If this gets published, it will be on spec, or whatever it's called. If someone asks why you are asking these questions, must you say "I want to write about this stuff"? Or should you have said it already? I would like to think this falls into the David Sedaris rule. He just writes about his life - and for the most part, all the questions I'm asking are detail, safe, and non-inflammatory. I looked at the Journalistic code of ethics but it did not address this issue directly. Said something about "integrity." I am not certain of where I stand.
How come journalists make crap? I was really set on choosing Journalism as my major and Advertising as my minor, but when I found out Journalists make EXTREMELY little money(less than $20,000/year), it turned me off. I love writing, but a girl has to eat and have clothes on her back. What is the salary of someone who majors in Journalism AND minors in Advertising? Will my minor open more doors for me and make me have better pay?
where to start- need to email 3 journalists for school? As a school requirement I need to email an interview to 3 working journalists..any hints on where to find email addresses for working journalists with official titles that will actually respond to the interview? I have to turn in proof (copy of email)
How do journalists know where the news is happening? Like if there is a fire somewhere how do the journo's know this in time to get there while its still burning? Or if there is a robbery how did they find out about it so quickly? I know the police dont tell them, so who is letting them know, how do they find out ? Not everyone will call the media, if your house was on fire would you call the fire bridgade and then think, oh I must call my local news station now? You would be to busy freaking out to even find the number.
How many critical journalists and peace activists are being detained at Guantanamo Bay? well there are indeed journalists from Al Jazira, who were abducted by the US military and detained. So my question is not that far-fetched. If they arrest critical journalists, why not peace activists? And Olli.... if I had been incarcarated in Guantanamo Bay and tortured, I wouldn't resort to peaceful protesting either, you can be sure of that. You had that coming. You make your own terrorists.
What are good education options for journalists? If I want to pursue journalism as a career, should I a) major in journalism as an undergrad b) do a double major in journalism and something else or c) do something else as an undergrad, then go to journalism school? If b or c, is anthropology a good thing to study? What about political science?
Are there any honorable journalists in America? Name five? Name one? Journalists and media moguls have made this election a circus, and have "reported" the news to try to twist every issue to the point of being unrecognizable. This is true of all political points of view, conservative or liberal.
Journalists? Do you have to get a degree in English to become a journalist or can do get a degree in Jounalism and still become a Journalist?
What is the job satisfaction like for journalists? Anyone who can illuminate different areas - autonomy, salary, balance of personal and work life - would be greatly appreciated. If you can find any sort of report or website, a link would be helpful.
How do journalists support themselves while they write a book? I mean writing a book takes a long time I would assume, and during that time I would also assume the writer would need an ample amount of time each day to get a book finished. So my question is do they get a side job? what do they do to support themselves in the meantime?
How do investigative Journalists work? Particularly freelancers? Do they rely solely on a network of contacts for their information, or do they have some sort of power to conducy their own investigations...I'd imagine they have to be very careful? Is it merely a case of getting to know the desk clerks at the local police station? It is something I would love to do, as I have just graduated, but do not know how to begin- thanks! EDIT: I realise an inherent talent of budding journalists is the ability to 'sniff out' a lead and follow it with dogged tenacity...but surely if you are actually investigating a case you have to have some sort of internal network or special ID in place?
How do reporters/journalists get their news so quick? I see articles for products that have just been released (within an hour) and an article will come out at the same time. Technology, health, studies, medicine, politics, they find out everything fast! How do they manage to dothis?
Journalists, what is the best college degree to get? I want to be a journalist after school. I can't decide between majoring in journalism or political science which would be more useful getting a job as a journalist. I work for the school newspaper if that helps. Thanks for any help you can give.
